ABOUT THE AUTHOR
OF THE BOOK
Catarina Sobral was born in Coimbra in 1985.
She graduated in Design at the University of Aveiro and later completed a master's degree in the field of Illustration at the Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências de Lisboa. She attended the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, under Erasmus.
At the age of 26 she published her first book, Greve, which received a Special Mention in the National Illustration Prize for the year 2011. The following book is also highlighted: Achimpa (2012) won the AmadoraBD Prize for Best Children's Book Illustration and the Prize SPA for Best Children's Book. It is, however, with O Meu Avô (2014) that her work is for the first time projected internationally: the book gives her the chance to win the International Award for Illustration, distinguishing her as the best illustrator for children under 35 years at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2014.
Catarina Sobral alternates the publication of books with sporadic collaborations with several publishers, magazines and newspapers.
